Barangaroo is Sydney’s newest and most significant inner-city precinct. It is located on the north-western edge of the Sydney central business district and the southern end of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Over the next decade it is being re-shaped into a thriving public, residential and commercial precinct with a waterfront promenade running the length of the site - it is one of the most ambitious and significant waterfront redevelopments anywhere in the world.
THERE was invited to activate the largest end-of-trip facilities (EOTF) in the Southern Hemisphere and provide a ‘Day One’ temporary wayfinding strategy for commercial anchor-tenants as they began to occupy the site.
With a focus on accessibility and healthy lifestyle, the EOTF provides over 1,100 bike spaces and change facilities for the 22,000 workers.
Taking inspiration from the local foreshore setting, a nautical palette along with exercise-based graphics, we designed a scalable backdrop that lifted the overall experience whilst facilitating placemaking and navigation. The outcome was bright colour hues, supersized graphics and concise wayfinding cues to create a space for work, play, living and learning.
